Fairy tales in Berlin
Lyadov's ideal was "to find the unearthly in art...Give me a fairy tale, a dragon, a water sprite, a wood demon – give me something that is unreal, and I am happy." No wonder that he considered 'The Enchanted Lake', Op. 62 his favorite. Demitri Kitaenko conducts the piece on December 11 and 12 with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Besides this picturesque composition there is another Lyadov work on the program, Baba-Yaga, a tone poem Op. 56, as well as Reinhold Glière's Harp Concerto Op. 74 (with Ronith Mues as soloist) and Piotr Tchaikovsky's 'Capriccio Italien'.
