Dimitrij Kitajenko (Dmitry, Dmitri, Dimitri, Kitayenko, Kitaenko)

Mahler and Mozart in Zagreb

On October 16 and 17, Dimitri Kitaenko conducts a high-contrast program with the Zagreb Philharmonic at the Lisinski Concert Hall in the Croatian capital. Mahler's last completed work, the ninth symphony, full of emotional turmoil, is confronted with the Piano Concerto No 20 in D minor KV 466 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, basically also a conflict-ridden music, reaching per aspera ad astra from sombre minor to brilliant major tunes. Soloist is the South Korean piano virtuoso Yeol Eum Son, a prize-winner of the Moscow Tchaikovsky competition and the Van Cliburn Competition. Dimitri Kitaenko has cooperated with her already quite often, most recently in February 2015 with the Tonk√ľnstlerorchester Nieder√∂sterreich.
