Three concerts with the Hamburg Radio Symphony Orchestra
Shostakovich and Khachaturian
Dmitri Kitaenko is conducting the Hamburg Radio Symphony Orchestra on the 30th October at the castle in Kiel, on the 31st October at the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg and on the 1st November in the St. George Church in Wismar. The main work on the program is Dmitri Shostakovich's First Symphony, which he composed at the age of 19 as his final diploma work at the conservatory. The Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra premiered the symphony of which conductor Nicolaï Malko said, that it introduced a new era in symphonic music.
Stefan Wagner is the soloist in Aram Khachaturian's brilliant violin concerto, while Tchaikovsky's sparkling ' Capriccio Italien' concludes the program.
