Two concerts in Doha/Qatar

After the tour with the Qatar Philharmonic in September 2015, Dimitri  Kitaenko is back in Doha for two concerts at the beginning of February.  On February 6, he is conducting the orchestra at the opera house of  Doha, with Antonin Dvorák's overture op. 92, 'Carnival', the central part of the cycle 'Nature, life and love', describing people in their whole liveliness and cheerfulness. The soloist of Reinhold Glière's Concerto for harp and orchestra op. 74 is Xavier de Maistre, who was called 'Ambassador of the harp'. Extracts from Tchaikovsky's beautiful ballet  music 'Nutcracker' terminate the program.

Completely different sounds are to be heard on February 11, when  Maestro Kitaenko conducts the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in a coherent program with Wagner's Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde as well as Gustav Mahler's Fifth Symphony, symbolizing so well love and death in theAdagietto, meant by the composer to be a love letter and, yet, came so close to the feeling of loss in the film Death in Venice.
