On tour in Germany with the Wiener Symphoniker
Starting with the opening concert on 24 February in the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Wiener Symphoniker headed by Dmitri Kitaenko will embark on an extended tour of Germany. In Stuttgart, Wiesbaden, Mannheim, Cologne, Hamburg, Essen and Düsseldorf, Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor opus 67 and the Rosenkavalier Suite by Richard Strauss will be played. Alison Balsom, an outstanding trumpeter of our day, will perform Haydn's Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra in E flat Hob.VIIe:1 at five of the seven concert dates. In Wiesbaden and for the closing performance in Düsseldorf, Scriabin's rarely Piano Concerto in F sharp minor opus 20 will be the centrepiece of the evening with soloist Gerhard Oppitz.
