High honours in Zagreb and Cologne

For his contribution to the Croatian culture and for his invaluable artistic assistance in the work of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra Dimitri Kitaenko was awarded the City of Zagreb medal, presented to him by the Zagreb mayor Milan Bandić.

The Zagreb Philharmonic is very proud of this collaboration. Under Kitaenko’s baton the orchestra has opened new chapters of artistic excellence, having raised the quality of artistic expression to an entirely new level. The Zagreb Philharmonic managing director Mirko Boch presented the Maestro a gold medallion with an engraved figure of Lovro von Matačić as the highest decoration from the orchestra to its conductor.

High honours also in Cologne, where Jürgen Roters, the mayor of the city of Cologne, acknowledged Kitaenko's outstanding contribution to the musical life of Cologne. In a solemn ceremony, the honorary conductor of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne entered his name in the Golden Book of the city of Cologne.
