Dimitri Kitaenko to conduct three concerts with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra
Prior to four concerts with the Tonkünstler Orchestra in the Musikverein in Vienna, in London and Grafenegg and a tour to Spain with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Dimitri Kitaenko conducts three concerts of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in Doha on January 10 and 17 as well as on February 6. The two first concerts belong to the Brahms cycle (more info here) and the third concert is an All-Russian program with, as main work, Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky cantata for mezzo-soprano, choir and orchestra, drawn from the soundtrack for Sergei Eisenstein's film about the medieval grand-duke Alexander. Linda Watson sings the mezzo-soprano part, the choir being the one from the MDR radio in Leipzig. The other compositions to be heard are four scenes from Tchaikovsky's ballet 'Swan Lake' as well as Polovtsian Dances from Borodin's opera 'Prince Igor'.
