Four concerts with the Tonkünstler-Orchester

Between 13th and 16th February, Dimitri Kitaenko is conducting four concerts with the Austrian Tonkünstler-Orchester at the Vienna Musikverein, the Auditorium Grafenegg as well as at the Festival Hall in St. Pölten. The program comprises two movements from Tchaikovsky's ballet Sleeping Beauty in an arrangement by Igor Strawinsky, Rachmaninov's Concerto for piano and orchestra No 2, with which the composer found the way back to composing after overcoming a deep crisis, and, finally, Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony, about which the composer wrote in a letter to his patroness Nadezhda von Meck: "This is Fate, the fatal Power hanging over our heads like the sword of Damocles, incessantly poisoning our souls.” Soloist in Rachmaninov's concerto is the South Korean pianist Yeol Eum Son, who has collaborated with Kitaenko already several times.
